Biomass Institute

The Biomass Institute is a joint institution of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences and Ansbach University of Applied Sciences. It researches new ways of utilising biogenic raw materials for materials and energy. With its research and transfer activities, it strengthens rural regions as economic and living spaces.

The research and transfer topics include

Sustainable agricultural production of biogenic raw materials with special consideration of the current aspects of resource efficiency, biodiversity and digitalisation
Shaping the local energy transition - for example through innovative concepts for the production, distribution and utilisation of bioenergy
Development of new utilisation paths for biogenic raw and residual materials such as agricultural production waste

In addition to technical and agricultural aspects, the Biomass Institute also takes into account the legal, social and economic framework conditions of biomass utilisation and production.
