Folio

In the spring of 2027, the Ansbach University Library will transition from its current library system, SISIS, to the open-source program Folio. Folio stands for “The Future of Libraries is open.” As part of this transition, a new library catalog—the Vufind discovery system (also open source)—will be introduced, offering both existing and new search options through a new user interface.

The transition to Folio and Vufind requires a great deal of time-consuming preparatory work and configuration. This preparatory work, along with the necessary test migrations and follow-up tasks, will not affect library services. However, behind the scenes, the preparation and processing of large volumes of data are required, which will tie up significant staff resources. We therefore ask for your understanding if this results in delays in processing inquiries via email or phone. 

Starting in mid-February, the actual migration of all user, book, and acquisitions data to the new library system will take place, and the go-live is scheduled for March 9, 2027.

To ensure the migration goes as smoothly as possible, there will be unavoidable restrictions (interlibrary loan, acquisitions, check-outs, opening hours) throughout the project. Access to e-books and e-journals should be guaranteed at all times, with the exception of a few hours. If you have created watchlists in the current library catalog that you still need to access, you must export them yourself, as they cannot be automatically transferred to the new catalog.
