Ansbach University of Applied Sciences offers various models for organising your studies. There is a suitable study programme for every prospective student and their personal life situation.
Initially, most people probably think of a full-time degree programme. This usually lasts seven semesters for Bachelor's students and three semesters for Master's students. However, there are also other options for studying. Part-time study allows you to continue your education independently of your employer and takes a few semesters longer than the full-time model due to the compatibility of work and study. However, certain subjects can also be combined directly with work in a company and can be studied while working. There are also dual study options at the university. There are two different forms: the combined degree programme or a degree programme with in-depth practical experience.
Profession: Student In a traditional full-time degree programme, you spend most of your week attending classes at the university and preparing for seminars. This means you devote yourself entirely to the university. The great advantage of this is that you are able to engage intensively with the course content. During the semester, there are lecture-free periods on special days of the year (e.g. Christmas or Easter). There are no courses during these periods. After the examinations, you go into the long lecture-free period. This usually runs from mid-February to mid-March and from the beginning of August to the end of September. The exact dates can be found in the university's semester timetable. The basic duration is usually seven semesters for a Bachelor's degree and three semesters for a Master's degree.
Are your life and other commitments already so far advanced that you simply don't have the time to meet the demands of full-time study? Perhaps you can also study part-time. With this model, you have more standard study time available to complete the same credits as a ‘normal’ degree programme. The average weekly working time is only 20 to 30 hours. You and your full-time fellow students have a complete ‘holiday’ from your time at the university during the semester break.
At Ansbach University of Applied Sciences, you can also work full-time and study at the same time! This is called part-time study. And it should not be confused with a dual study programme. While as a dual student you attend the same seminars and courses as a regular student, your part-time study programme takes place in block seminars and at weekends. This allows you to work full-time and study at the same time.
Dual study, what does that actually mean? First of all, you should definitely know that every undergraduate degree programme, i.e. every degree programme that is not part-time, can be studied on a dual basis.
There are two different options for dual study programmes at Ansbach University of Applied Sciences. The combined study programme consists of an IHK/HWK training occupation and the university degree course. You learn a Chamber of Commerce profession and study at the university.
The name says it all when you study with in-depth practical experience: You have more practical phases than ‘normal’ students. You spend the entire practical period at the same company.
