The efficient use of resources is the key topic at Campus Feuchtwangen. It is directly embodied by the plus-energy teaching building of the Technology and Study Centre. The branch began operations in 2019 and offers a regional educational programme with international significance. Both teaching and research deal with forward-looking topics for resource-conserving life and business.
In the field of building technology, the focus is on integrated energy concepts, sustainable and efficient construction methods paired with digital planning methods. Building simulation and automation underline the innovative claim. The necessary software and hardware is available to students at the Campus Feuchtwangen as part of practical courses and as extensive laboratory equipment.
In addition, the branch is intensively involved with questions of energy technology and the energy management of the future. Intelligent networking between individual participants is playing an increasingly important role not only within buildings. With the increasing decentralisation of plants and the increased volatility of energy production due to the use of renewable energies, new challenges arise which are met with artificial intelligence (AI), information and communication technology as well as a profound understanding of the individual producer and consumer technologies.
Located in the immediate vicinity of the branch office are two strong regional partners, the Stadtwerke Feuchtwangen (municipal utilities) and the Bayerische BauAkademie (Bavarian Construction Academy). Cooperation with companies such as SIEMENS or DIEHL Metering also allow for a high level of practical relevance in research and teaching and also offer attractive opportunities for starting a job.
The Bavarian Drone Academy of Ansbach University of Applied Sciences is also based at Campus Feuchtwangen. It deals with technical, scientific, and creative applications of drones in an interdisciplinary manner. It is an approved centre for training and certification for the A2 remote pilot's licence, which is valid throughout the EU.
