West Middle Franconia as a place to live
The Ansbach rail network is part of the Greater Nuremberg Transport Network (VGN). An S-Bahn line connects Ansbach directly with Nuremberg. There are also direct trains to Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Würzburg. There are also good connections to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, for example.

Ansbach is well connected with 59 district roads (595 km), 27 state roads (approx. 500 km) and of course with direct links to the A6 and A7 motorways as well as the B13, B14 and B25 trunk roads. Other motorways near Nuremberg can be reached quickly via the A6.
Ansbach also has a carpooling centre (MIFAZ), which can be used to find carpools for commuters, for example.

Car-Sharing on campus
A car-sharing vehicle is available directly on campus in Ansbach and at the branch office in Feuchtwangen, which can be used by both staff and students. Registration with the operator Mikar is required.

The nearest airport is in Nuremberg, which can be reached by car or public transport in under an hour. Other airports include Stuttgart Airport (approx. 2 hours by car; approx. 2.5 hours by public transport) or Frankfurt (approx. 2.75 hours by car; approx. 3 hours by public transport).
There is also an airfield for gliders and motorised aircraft in Ansbach-Petersdorf.
There are footpaths and cycle paths almost everywhere in Ansbach and also - especially in the city centre - many shortcuts that make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to get from A to B.
Ansbach is currently planning a comprehensive concept to improve the situation for cyclists. The city's cycle paths are to be continuously expanded. There are already many cycle parking facilities, particularly at central points in the city, which are also to be expanded.

Electricity
In Ansbach, 43.5% of the total electricity (as of 2015) is generated from renewable energies. 38.1% is generated from other renewable energies and 10.8% from coal in accordance with the EEG. Ansbach has a high level of broadband coverage in the city area, both for businesses and private households, with transmission speeds of 50-100 Mbit/s and 80% access to high-performance broadband connections.
