The courses of the specialization Business Applications convey the latest competencies in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics and integrate data from all relevant sources such as Social Media, ERP and CRM systems, spreadsheets, data from the Internet ... and make them available in a data warehouse via system integration. Leading and widely used analysis tools of the latest kind from both SAP and Microsoft are used here, as is the free open source solution R.
The labor market in Germany as well as worldwide is desperately looking for graduates with this Data Analyst competence profile. Data analysts are high in demand and paid above average.
The courses of the specialization Operational Applications can be characterized as follows:
Business Intelligence (4 SWS, 5 ECTS, SPM1)
The focus of this compulsory event specializing in business applications is corporate performance management and key figure-oriented corporate management based on a comprehensive (intelligent) information architecture (data warehouse) and information availability (dashboards). Sound know-how in the area of data warehousing and system integration is learned here on the basis of leading software solutions (SAP, Microsoft... ). The Ansbach University of Applied Sciences was one of the first universities/universities in Europe to work on a curriculum together with SAP in this area. The close cooperation with external management consultancies also strengthens the practical relevance, so that students are prepared top fit for the job market.
Big Data Analytics (4 SWS, 5 ECTS, SPM1)
The focus of this compulsory event of the specialization Operational Applications is the application of the latest algorithms of Advanced Analytics and DataMining (sampling, hypothesis testing, correlation analysis, trend analysis), artificial intelligence and monitored, partially monitored and unsupervised machine learning (linear modeling, neural networks, classification, decision trees). The analysis of data from social networks is becoming more and more important and is therefore taught in practice.
How companies use business and big data analytics in reality is presented with numerous examples. The case studies cover among other things Corporate Performance Management, early recognition of trends and opinions of customers about products and services of their own organization and of competitors based on data from social networks such as Twitter or Facebook, identification of cross-selling opportunities based on statistical analysis, simulation of scenarios as a basis for optimized decision making as well as presentation options in a dashboard.
Text Mining (4 SWS, 5 ECTS, SPM2)
The focus of this compulsory event of the specialization Business Applications is Text Mining (e.g. Natural Language Processing, Sentiment Analysis). How syntax and semantics of texts, especially data from social networks and from the Internet, are prepared for analysis (string manipulation, keyword scanning) and which presentation methods are common (networks, word cloud, term frequency) as well as the performance of a sentiment analysis (sentiment scoring, polarity, subjectivity, emoticons) are discussed.
Advanced application areas such as hidden structures, document classification, predictive modeling and world mapping of text sources further deepen this new and important area of knowledge.
In order to further increase the practical relevance of the study focus, Ansbach University of Applied Sciences has signed a cooperation agreement with the management consultancy CubeServ with locations in Frankfurt, Munich, Dortmund, Hamburg, Vienna, Rapperswil and Zagreb. CubeServ has been an SAP Partner and Recognized SAP Partner for Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, In-Memory Computing and Analytics for over 15 years. Together with experienced consultants from CubeServ, best practices in analytics are presented to the students.
