Yes, but the aim is to give you a basic understanding of the way programmers think and work and by familiarising you with rudimentary, graphic forms of notation. This should strengthen communication and coordination between IT and management in the company. The aim is not (this also applies to the examination!) to make you a fully-fledged replacement for a programmer!
Yes, basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division (with remainder) of whole numbers (for orientation: school material of grades 4 to 6). A calculator is reassuring, but generally not necessary!
Yes, learning how to programme is not just learning a programming language, but understanding concepts (e.g. loops, conditional statements). These concepts are transferable between programming languages, i.e., you learn other programming languages more easily, e.g. VBA for programming macros for Microsoft Office.

Voraussetzungen an die Studierenden: Sie bringen gute bis sehr gute Kenntnisse in Statistik mit und sind an empirischen Fragestellungen interessiert. Idealerweise haben Sie auch schon erste Erfahrungen in der Analyse von Daten, z.B. mithilfe von R, SPSS oder Stata.
