Bavarian government grants

Grants and financial aid

Degree seeking international students in an advanced phase of their studies can apply for semester grants from the Bavarian Ministry of Education (Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Bildung und Kultus, Wissenschaft und Kunst).

These grants can only be given to students who don't come with exchange programmes from partner universities and have so far shown a very good academic performance. Furthermore, they have to prove that they don't have sufficient funding to cover their own cost of living (i.e. they need to prove that they have less than 659,00 EUR at their disposal).

Application form (the form is in German, please ask the International Office for help, if needed).

Application deadline: 31 August 2017

The granting is decided upon by the committee for international affairs.

Final Study Phase Grants

International students can apply for a grant to support them in their final phase of studies. The  STIBET program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers financial support for students who will graduate within 12 months after they have applied for this grant. The money is provided by the German Federal Foreign Office.

In order to get awarded applicants have to prove excellent study results. The grant is meant to enable them to successfully write their final thesis and finish their studies without financial worries.

The application form has to be handed in at the International Office by 31 March 2017.
