Student Testimonials

Ronja from Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, Finland

"Before my journey to Ansbach, I read the information on the website carefully for many times. I think it would have been nice to know, that some of us have to do an exam and some of us will have to do a final task after their journey to receive the 5 ECTS points. The intercultural training was really good for me, because Finnish people tend to be quite shy. I am happy that the teacher put us on groups from different countries and cultures in a same place. Of course the language was a bit hard for me at first, since I hadn't been using English at all in Finland, but after talking to everyone it became easier and easier, as expected. After two days, I was literally thinking in English. During that journey I understood, that I was able to achieve anything if I just stepped out of my comfort zone. I liked the Professors, they were kind, professional and they understood that not all of us had the same background. But the best thing for me were the people. I met people that will stay as my friends forever, and people with who I made some great memories, which I will treasure always! I would absolutely recommend the Summer School in Ansbach to everyone. It was an amazing experience!"

Drilon from University of Prishtina, Kosovo

"Because I am from Kosovo it seems kind of a problem for us to travel to Europe. Therefore we asked for help and the International Office from Ansbach University made it possible, the appointment was made (VISA) and an impossible dream became true! The first contact with other nation students was very easy and the conversations started easily. German students were very hospitable and friendly which made us feel like home. The first visit to Nuremberg was a great trip and we saw historic buildings and learned about Beer Producing. The following days were full of workshops especially in my course (Photovoltaics), we had to wake up early and to do lots of exercises during the day which were very interesting. Some of the students had different academic backgrounds but I think we adapted easily to working in a mixed group and we helped each other. The professors were also kind and professional to help us keeping things easy understanding. At the evenings we could stay together with other students from different courses during barbeques or meeting at campus. I also made new friendships and it was relaxing after long days studying. The topics we learned during Summer School will help me very much iin my future courses in my home town and in my career. For myself I will try to apply next year again because I know the importance of the courses even if I wouldn't get any points."

Shelby from Missouri Southern State University, United States

"This 12-day trip, travel dates included, changed my life. We were given so many opportunities while we were there, such as touring well-known sights, visiting different cities including Munich, Nuremberg, Erlangen, and Bamberg, and most of all, we metthe most incredible people. Although I have traveled abroad before, it wasn't for academic reasons, and that's what made this trip different for me. I loved my class, and I wish that I could take it for a semester at Southern. With such a short time period to learn in, it was very fast pace, but worth it. My biggest takeaway from this trip is the importance of diversity. Realizing that, I became much more extroverted while away and got to know many of the international students who were so kind and welcoming. If there's one thing I would say to future students who might go on this trips, it would be to keep an open mind and try new things. It can be daunting going to a new country and not knowing everyone, but it's worth it when you can have experiences unlike those at home, and meet people from all over the world, and come back home with stories you'll never forget."

Amine from University of Miskolc, Hungary

"When we arrived to Ansbach city we found one of the Coordinators for the Summer School waiting for us to guide us to the place that we are supposed to stay (the stay has already been organized by the Ansbach University!!!). The most helped medium for communication was via email and whatsapp that kept us very close especially when we arrived to the city. Language was not a problem because most of the participants and organizers could speak English by fine level. From the first day, I was not in the same level as the other participants but they were very helpful and they adapted so fast to work with each other, I would be able to consume most of information if they did not help. At least I would like to appreciate and say a big thank you to the coordinators and sponsors of this great, interesting, interactive, educative and entertaining experience!"
