The increasing demand for well educated and highly qualified engineers is as high as ever. As a qualified engineer in production engineering and automation engineering you will occupy yourself with the solutions for technical challenges together with economic and organisational challenges in industrial production. The production and automation technology which is applied decides, to a great extent, over the costs and quality of the processes and production. It is necessary to be able to compete internationally.
In industrial production it is a matter of optimising production sequences and increasing the automation of production processes. An engineer’s main task in production and automation engineering is usually to develop new products and processes or to plan new products and production plants in cooperation with other specialist departments.
There are a wide range of employment opportunities e.g. production management, production planning and controlling, planning and operation of production plants from a technical and economic point of view, the design and project planning of automation technology or the automation of production processes. Furthermore, an occupation in lean management, quality management, logistics and in supply chain management is also a possibility.
Applied Engineering Sciences
The course in "Production Engineering and Automation Engineering" is part of the “Applied Engineering Sciences” programme.
Basics in the engineering sciences will be taught in the beginning semesters. One’s major can be chosen from the courses offered by AIW (providing places are available). Applicants apply for each individual course. One cannot apply for AIW in general.
