The IT Service is responsible for the university's IT infrastructure.

This includes, among other things:

  • Internal university networking, connection of the university and its branch offices to the Internet via the science network
  • Organisation and administration of user management
  • Provision of central server services or central application programmes
  • Network and data security; backup
  • Support of the PC pools in the university computer centre
  • Advice and support for users and IT supervisors of the degree programmes
  • Support for in-house users with the IT service; hosting of support platforms
  • Advice and support with procurement measures; management of IT framework agreements
  • Planning and support of IT in the administration and the university library
  • Central procurement of software and licence management in the area of software framework agreements (e.g. Microsoft and Adobe)
  • Co-operation with external service providers and outsourcing partners (Primuss, LRZ eMail, evaluation)

IT service portal

The IT service portal is an independent website. As a student or employee, you can use it to access applications and services that are available to you as a member of the university. The site is organised into different role-controlled areas.

CampusCard of Ansbach University of Applied Sciences

IT-Service is particularly proud of the CampusCard. Initiated, planned and realised in 2008, the CampusCard is the result of the philosophy of integrated information processing practised by IT-Service. Various areas were transparently combined here via a low-frequency and a high-frequency chip as well as via a switching network in the background. The result is a wealth of functions:

  • Payment card on campus (cashless payment transactions on the entire campus)
  • Canteen card
  • Car park card
  • Access to university rooms and library (in particular unstaffed opening)
  • Printer/copier card
  • Library card
  • student ID card
  • and ... it is scalable and can do much more.

If you have lost your card or if it is defective, please follow our instructions for applying for a replacement card in the IT service portal.

Service Point

At the Service Point, our students receive

  • First-level support from student assistants
  • Information on favourable hardware purchase options
  • Support with WLAN set-up
  • Rebooking: CampusCard credit to print credit

The IT Service is regularly looking for student assistants to provide support. Details can be found in the IT Service Portal at the appropriate time (usually shortly before the start of the semester).

Introduction to IT services

For our new students and employees, IT Services offers a 25-minute video ‘Introduction to IT Services’. This screencast introduces the IT services and shows how they can be used to benefit your studies or your work.

Once your account has been activated at the start of the semester (by 1 October or 15 March at the latest), you can view these in the protected area of the IT service portal under the menu item ‘IT support -> IT know-how -> ITS media library’.

Other short support videos on various topics are also available.

Maintenance period

We want to keep the IT at the university up to date and provide employees and students with modern IT services. However, this also means that we have to regularly patch, install software updates and put new services into operation. Unfortunately, this usually means taking the relevant systems offline. In order to keep operations running as smoothly as possible, the ICT committee has therefore agreed to schedule this work for defined time windows.

Maintenance work on the data centre's IT systems therefore takes place every Friday afternoon.

This time slot is intended to ensure that teaching and administrative operations are disrupted as little as possible. Should complications arise, Saturday and Sunday provide a sufficiently large buffer.
