ANsbach Goes IntErnational
The ANGIE project is designed to support the process of internationalisation at Ansbach University of Applied Sciences across all areas of study, teaching and service provision. Strategically positioned, worldwide partnerships and international exchanges are preparing graduates for the global labour market of the future.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Specific funding is being provided for internationalisation measures throughout the university, internationalisation ‘at home’, the development of degree courses taught in English and German language classes for international students . In addition, ANGIE also awards scholarships to students wishing to study abroad and to guest students from partner universities.
Ansbach University of Applied Sciences offers international first-year students free preparatory German courses at levels A1 and A2. These run online in July and August for the winter semester and in December and January for the summer semester. At the end of each course there is an online German language exam. These courses enable students to acquire the language skills they need before beginning their studies.

As part of the process to internationalise the university’s curriculum, two further degree programmes in English will be introduced in 2021. Ansbach University of Applied Sciences now offers three Master's degree programmes in English!
Applied Biotechnology (ABI)
International Product and Service Management (IPM)
Smart Energy Systems (SES)
Every semester, there are events for students to promote internationalisation at ‘home’. These include lectures by international guest professors and intercultural training activities.
For employees of Ansbach University of Applied Sciences, there are opportunities to gain experience in an equivalent department at a partner university or to participate in a variety of in-house training courses, e.g. diversity awareness workshops and intercultural training activities.
To further the process of ‘internationalisation at home’, employees of the university will be provided with a license for the language learning app "Babbel".
The ANGIE project offers scholarships to exchange students (incoming and outgoing). Countries currently receiving support are:
Brazil, Kazakhstan and Romania
ANGIE is intended to facilitate preparation and provide motivational support and guidance to incoming and outgoing students.
This information portal, which was specially developed for ANGIE, provides information on studying abroad and partner universities in a comprehensive and easily accessible format.
Orientation days with numerous information and cultural events for international and full-time students take place before the semester begins. These orientation weeks allow applicants to consolidate their German language skills and complete administrative tasks by participating in a one-week intensive German course.
After this, absolutely nothing can stand in the way of a very successful stay at Ansbach University of Applied Sciences!
By supporting internationalisation ‘at home’, the project aims to expand the intercultural awareness and knowledge of students and university staff who are not able to benefit from a stay abroad. They will be offered a range of language courses, international events, intercultural training sessions and other intercultural activities.
