Studying Abroad

Living and studying abroad improves your

  • language skills,
  • chances of getting the job you want,
  • intercultural skills and
  • broadens your horizon.

Since the courses you visit abroad are also recognised at home the time you need to study remains the same.

Studying abroad as a "Free Mover"

In general students can choose to study at any foreign university. However, students should also calculate the costs well in advance and ensure that the courses they plan to study are also recognised by their home university.
You will find information regarding the different countries and a suitable university on www.daad.de/ausland/en/ .

Of course there is always the possibility of paying an agency to arrange everything.

Studying at one of our partner universities

If you decide to study at one of our partner universities you will have the following advantages:

  • The application procedures are less complicated
  • Our International Office knows who to contact
  • Someone in the International Office will always help you
  • Set student fees are sometimes even reduced

Studying within the ERASMUS+ programme is of an even greater advantage. You do not pay student fees and are given a mobility grant.

Planning a study abroad

We recommend you start thinking about studying abroad - the minute you start studying! You should make enquiries at the International Office at least one year in advance! The International Office organises information events at regular intervals. Keep your eyes open for posters around the campus and check the “news” category.

Financing your study abroad

Sometimes it’s possible to get a grant for traveling and living costs. Once again you will find current information in the “news” category of the International Office. For any further information please contact the International Office.

Studying abroad can be very expensive. Any grants you get will not cover all your costs. It is important to find out well in advance what costs are to be expected. Don’t wait too long with your organisation. It pays off to be well prepared.
