Content

Biotechnology is understood to be a melting pot of the different natural and engineering sciences. Modern technology taken from the fields of molecular and micro-biology has boosted biotechnology in recent years. In order to meet the expectations of research and industry this course of study aims to educate students as extensively and practically oriented as possible. This BA imparts an intensive practical education in the biotechnological core subjects. Practical experience is about 50% of the necessary hours.

This course of study prepares you for a wide range of occupations within the professional field of biotechnology and applied bio-sciences. It is based on learning the scientific basics and methods. It conveys a professional and practically oriented qualification for an independent activity in the applied research, development, production or administrative field.

The main goals are:

  • Acquisition of profound knowledge in basic engineering sciences
  • Professional competencies, specialised technical practices
  • Profound knowledge in law, business administration and accounting

This BA course of study consists of 7 semesters. The professional qualification is a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc). The total amount of hours are limited to 166 contact hours (210 ECTS), including 10 hours (12,5) for one’s bachelor thesis and colloquium. It is completely modularised. The first two semesters consist of basics in natural sciences and technology. The 3rd – 7th semesters encompass specialised courses in technical or natural science applications and a practical semester.
