Applied Engineering Sciences

The individual courses Energy Systems and Energy Management (ESW), Plastics Engineering (KT), Physical Engineering (PT), Production and Automation Engineering (PAT) and Sustainable Building Technology (NGT) can be studied in Applied Engineering Sciences. Basics in the engineering sciences will be taught in the beginning semesters. One's major can be chosen from the courses offered by AIW (provided places are available). Applicants apply for each individual course. One cannot apply for AIW in general.

Energy Systems and Energy Management
Energy supply is constantly changing. In this course you learn about the different conventional and renewable means of creating energy and gain an overview over the questions which arise.

Plastics Engineering
Plastics engineering is one of the most important industrial branches in Germany. Few products can be produced without the use of plastics. In this course you learn basic knowledge in processing and production engineering, measurement and analysis procedures and materials engineering.

Physical Engineering
Physical engineering covers the practical use of physical knowledge in manufacturing facilities and measuring systems. An important part is computational physics which includes the simulation of physical processes and helps immensely in the planning, cost reduction and optimisation of technical procedures.

Production and Automation Engineering
This course covers solutions in technical, economic and organisational challenges in industrial production. The main goal being to optimise production processes and to automate production procedures even more.

Sustainable Building Engineering
Sustainable building engineering combines interdisciplinary elements such as supply engineering, automation engineering, building engineering and housing technology with the basics of structural engineering. Emphasis is placed on the planning and execution together with the operation and management of building engineering systems.
